It's not always easy being an independent country music fan when it comes to attending concerts. Typically they are in the city and that leads to a pretty expensive trip.
I will admit, I am not someone who has been an avid Willie Nelson listener. This may raise some eyebrows, but people have to remember that in my part of the country, Willie Nelson isn’t played on country radio. Even in the early 2000’s when I got into country music he didn’t get a lot of air time.
As time continues to pass, the world continues to learn of the incredible talents of Cody Jinks. I feel fortunate enough to have been exposed to Cody’s incredible music back three years ago.

I have been a fan of Scott McCreery since he was on American Idol…Yes I watched Idol. With a voice that has always been far beyond his age, Scott McCreery is back with a new song and it’s just what country needs right now.
If you follow the Texas scene at all, you’ll be familiar with a young gun who is quickly making a name for himself. That honky ’tonkin cowboy is Randall King and he is someone that should be paid very close attention to if you like some real solid boot stompin’ country. He’s the real deal.
When I was talking to Cody Riley last week, we both discussed how the current mainstream sound will fade away. It's cheap, forgettable and just designed to produce radio hits. With radio becoming increasingly irrelevant, do you agree?
Every so often an artist comes along that just hits you and makes a lasting impression. In 2016 that happened to me when I heard “Sad Songs” by Cody Riley and recently I had a great opportunity to have a nice phone conversation with this talented singer/songwriter. We talked all about his start in music and had some great discussions on the present state of country music.
If there’s one thing people will learn about me, it’s that I am a large supporter of our troops, police officers, and first responders. This is no political statement, but I will always share my appreciation to those that have served and continue to serve. Mike Donnell of the Mike Donnell Band served as a Marine and I want to thank him for his service. I would not be here or you reading this, without people like Mike bravely serving this great country. Thank you, Mike.
If there’s one thing that I love about country music, it’s the women that take control, turn up the attitude and sing their heart out about life. The younger cousin of Loretta Lynn is a gal that is doing just that.
Just a Massachusetts guy supporting Texas and other independent country/Americana artists.
