One of my favorite Americana bands right now, Market Junction, has released their latest music video for Make It Out Alive. This group has been working their tails off to make a name for themselves and stepping up to the plate with a video like this is surely a strong statement. The soothingly warm vocals of lead singer Matthew Parrish have the ability to demand your full attention during this song.
Make It Out Alive chronicles the journey and obstacles of being away from home and loved ones for long periods of time. We watch each band member says good bye to their spouse and loads up their gear into Parrish's Super Duty before heading out on the road.
I kissed your lips goodbye
It's their love for one another that will continue to motivate and guide them while away. Family is one of the most powerful things we have and it's the special spark that will keep us focused through the good times and bad. It's one of the key parts of life that will keep us all grounded.
When their truck breaks down, you'll see each of them grab their gear – although Matt forgets his in their mad dash to stay on track. I laughed out loud when he ran back and dropped his hat. While this is a lighthearted moment, it's our ability to overcome the obstacles in life that prove our character more than anything else. The title alone represents our journey through life and doing our best to make it out alive. While I'm not going to delve into religious beliefs some may have, it's inevitable our time will come and go. It's what we do with our time here that shapes who we are and what we accomplish – no matter what forces may stand here in our way. To put it simply: there is no wall too tall to climb.
With this song released to radio and now this music video, I hope more recognition continues to head their way. If you haven't heard Market Junction yet, you are seriously missing out.
