Aaron Watson won’t exactly be able to bring the iconic Bluebonnets of Texas here to Boston, but he can certainly bring real country music when he arrives this Sunday at Berklee Cafe 939. The artist that has gone on to defy all the naysayers, and make history time and time again, will certainly show all us Bostonians what Texas Country Music is all about.
Having spent much of my time talking about country music for nearly a year now, artists like Watson were the inspiring spark that nudged me to start Pitstop for Country. Years of listening to artists like Aaron, created a mounting frustration that finally exploded last November. I couldn’t understand why people don’t give these guys a chance. Mainstream country radio is full of talented artists sure, but they aren’t actually country. There was and still is a gap on country radio and Aaron has broken through, landing Outta Style as a top 30 mainstream hit. Impressive to say the least.
Hearing AW’s impressive song library will no longer have you asking Grandma, just where did the fiddle go? and some of you city slickers will learn a thing or two about pedal steel. And sure, there will be some drum beats, but they’ll be real, courtesy of Nate Coon - at the helm of his heavily road traveled set.
Expect songs you can dance too without being embarrassed by anyone over the age of 50 that sees a candid picture of you. And of course, we can’t forget all those wonderful references to John T. Floore’s, Austin, and Lubbock sprinkled throughout.
So for the cost of less than a week’s supply of Pumpkin Spice Lattes, click the link below, and grab a ticket before they’re sold out, because the recurring theme Sunday night will be real.
Real Country. Real Music. Real Heart. And A Real Good Time.
That’s what a bona-fide country artist like Aaron Watson is all about.
